What is considered Williamsburg?
James City County or JCC is considered Williamsburg, Virginia. Unless your JCC home is located in the upper portion of the county, you will have a Williamsburg, VA mailing address. Another portion of the Williamsburg area is actually part of York County. This Upper York Co. location will also have a Williamsburg mailing address. Surprisingly, the actual City of Williamsburg makes up a very small portion of the area.
No longer the best kept secret among locals; the masses know it's a great place to live and purchase real estate in Hampton Roads.
City of Williamsburg
Buyers of homes located in the City of Williamsburg will appreciate the low tax rate of $.54 for every $100 assessed. There are many charming Williamsburg neighborhoods. One is High Street, a newer community that mixes upscale townhouses/condos/apartments with shops, dining and even a movie theater. This area is just minutes from The College of William and Mary, founded in 1693 & still one of the country's most notable public colleges. Another community is Piney Creek Estates, an established neighborhood with larger homes. If you prefer less maintenance & an affordable condo, Claiborne is another option. Both communities are within walking distance of restaurants and attractions such as The Yankee Candle Factory, The Williamsburg Country Store & Ripley's Believe it or Not. Want a more park roads/ colonial feel? The Woods or Port Anne both offer lovely Williamsburg homes. Both neighborhoods are located close to Colonial Parkway access, the road system that ties the Historical Triangle of Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and the Yorktown Battlefields together. However, if you want to purchase real estate right in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg, check out the “new” community of Capital Landing Green. Boasting “residential re-development just one block from the Colonial Williamsburg restored area”, Capital Landing Green will feature two restored homes that have been updated & fourteen new homes that compliment its existing neighbors. Villages at Quarter Path, a new townhouse community, would be another option.
