Custom home process:
- Meet with the agent and builder to look over your plat (land) to see what size home will fit.
- Look through plans, share ideas and brainstorm about the general shape and feel of your home.
- View rough plan made just for you. Make changes, move walls and adjust the layout and window and door openings.
- The builder will give you a list of allowances based on your price range to select all of your fixtures, appliances, flooring, landscaping, etc.
- Finalize pricing and make any necessary adjustments based on budget.
- Builder applies for permits and assembles his team of contractors.
- Once the house is framed there will be a walk through with the builder to make sure everything is in the right places. Things to look over include outlets, fixtures, plumbing, etc.
- When everything is finished, usually about a week or two prior to closing you will conduct another walk through to identify any areas that need to be touched up or items that are not correct.
- Prior to closing you will walk through the home for the last time to ensure everything is finished as agreed.
- Closing takes place and you get the keys to your beautiful new custom home!
